Dennis Rainey: I want to encourage you, not to wait too long to tell your dad that you love him.

Music: "I wasn't there that morning, when my father passed away. I didn't get to tell him, all the things I had to say" ...

Dennis Rainey: In the early 1990's, a man named Frank lay dying of cancer. Frank had three sons. Each son had written a tribute to their father and had read it to him. In the final hour of his life, although he was barely coherent, his boys had gathered around him, and one of the sons decided to read his tribute to his dad one last time. The boy thanked his father for childhood memories, for weeks of vacation, and for teaching him how to be a man. The boy concluded his tribute to his dad saying, "I will take care of the house, Mom, and the boys the best that I can. I will always love you, Dad. See you in heaven." When that son was finished reading, he noticed a tear rolling down the cheek of his father, who died 10 minutes later.[ Read Full Transcript ]

One final thought. Don't wait until it's too late to tell your father that you love him. Sit down tonight, and write out your thoughts. Tell your dad how you feel.
